Under the NTMIS Scheme, the following two kinds of Surveys are conducted and details collected every year.

  • Institutional Survey
  • Student Follow- up Survey

(i) Institutional Survey

Statistical Information are collected from Engineering Colleges, Polytechnics, Management Studies Colleges, Hotel Management and Catering Technology (HMCT) and Pharmacy Colleges / Institutions by mailing a pre-designed self-explanatory Questionnaire prescribed by Institute of Applied Manpower Research (IAMR), New Delhi.

Details about the facilities available in the Institutions for education and training, courses offered, discipline-wise students intake/outturn of students, teachers strength and their educational qualifications etc., are collected from the Institutions.

(ii) Student Follow up Survey

The address list of all post-graduates, graduates and diploma holders passed out every year from various Engineering colleges, Polytechnics, Management Studies Colleges, HMCT and Pharmacy Colleges/Institutions located in the State have been collected.

A pre-designed Student Follow up Questionnaire provided by the Lead centre regarding their discipline of study, their employment status, time taken up for their first employment, monthly emoluments (if employed) etc. are mailed to all the Postgraduates, Degree and Diploma holders along with Business Reply Postage facilities two years after completion of their respective courses.

In respect of non-response cases, samples are drawn from each discipline by randomly selecting 10% or a minimum of 10 cases whichever is higher or all the cases where the number is less than 10. The samples are approached through personal contact by the field staff of this department and data collected in questionnaires.

Data collected from the sample students are blown up suitably and merged with the data collected in the mailed students questionnaires to have complete data for the entire batch of students.

The Assistant Director of Statistics in the districts are directed to expedite/collect the data required from all the institutions in their jurisdiction and by personal contacts from non-responding students.
