• There were 275 engineering colleges and 227 polytechnic colleges in the State during 2006.
  • These Institutes were offering 66 post graduate courses, 56 degree courses and 56 diploma courses.
  • The total intake during 2004 was 1,21,016 out of which 5263 were under postgraduate courses, 72205 for degree courses and 43548 for diploma courses.
  • The total outturn was 78993 in the year 2005 among which engineering postgraduates was 4312, engineering graduates 47916 and diploma holders 26765.
  • The Teacher-Students ratio in degree institutions was in the order of 1:18 and in diploma institutions it was 1:21.
  • A small proportion of about 1% of degree holders and 2 % of postgraduates have migrated abroad for employment.
  • Private Sector is the major employer for technically qualified persons.
  • 100% Graduates qualified in Aerospace Engineering were employed in the first year itself. Similarly, 79% of the graduates in Avionics Engineering got employment in first year itself.
  • 25% of Graduates in Civil Engineering, 23% in Industrial Engineering and 43% of Production Technology got placements only after a waiting period of two years.
