Every year the following books are published from the Publication section.

1. Quarterly Statistical Abstract of Tamil Nadu (Every Quarter)
2. Statistical Hand Book of Tamil Nadu (Annual)
3. Annual Statistical Abstract of Tamil Nadu (Annual)
4. Tamil Nadu at a Glance (English and Tamil) (Annual)

These publications are useful to Administrators, Planners, Scholars and Statisticians, Economists and all those who are interested in the Socio-Economic planning of Tamil Nadu.

For Quarterly Statistical Abstract of Tamil Nadu, the details are collected from various sections in our Department and Electricity Board.

For Statistical Hand Book of Tamil Nadu, which contains 43 chapters and 385 Tables, the details are collected from various sources.

For Annual Statistical Abstract of Tamil Nadu, which contains 40 chapters and 209 Tables, the details are collected from various sources.

These Publications are distributed to all Honourable Ministers, Secretaries to the Government, all Head of the Departments, all Universities, all District Libraries in Tamil Nadu and Central / other State Government offices. Moreover, the details are being furnished for Government Diary from the Publication Section as “Tamil Nadu Memoranda”.

District Statistical Hand Book:

The objective of the Scheme is to make available Statistics at District level on a variety of subjects of topical interest such as Population, Agriculture, Industries, Health, Education, Electricity, Prices, Trade etc., to the Administrators, Planners, Research Institutions and Scholars. Data are collected for compilation of District Statistical Hand Book and District Profile for all 30 Districts in Tamil Nadu every year. Block Statistical Hand Book is also prepared for all 385 Blocks every year.

Municipal Year Book

The objective of the Scheme is to compile Municipal Year Book annually with a view to make available information fairly on all aspects of economy at Municipal levels to the administrators, Planners, Research institutions and Scholars. Data are collected and compiled from all Corporations and Municipalities in structured schedules under various heads viz., salient features, Geographical Position, Area, Population, Public Health, Education, Transport, Communication, Co-operative Societies, Electricity, Receipts and Expenditure, etc.,

The Municipal Year Book 2003-04 and District at a Glance - Tamil Nadu 2003 are published.
